Sculpture and drawing are part of myself, I was born with them.
But it was not until the '80s that I began studying sculpture. I studied it
for nine years in Lima, Peru, under the direction of the sculptress Margarita Checa. From her I learned all the basic elements of my art, as I make it today: absolute confidence in my intuition; a very strong basis on drawing the human figure from nature, with emphasis on the structure of the body; clay modeling, mastering armatures and molds of all kinds; and a sort of devotion for the lost wax process –that wonderful invention of the human mind.
My art does not come directly from reality; rather, it comes from imagination and daydreaming. Although formal and figurative, it is original, independent from all schools, and inimitable. In my sculpture there is no drama; instead, balance and form –and a tinge of sensuality– are, as you will see, invariably perceptible.
The art pieces displayed in this website have been created after 2006, in my home studio in Tampa, Florida.
